If you’re a woman living with ITP, this question can be scary: Will my child inherit my condition? Here’s the truth — ITP is NOT a genetic disease. You do not pass it on to your children. In some cases, babies born to mothers with ITP may have a temporary low platelet count, but this is short-lived and does not mean the baby has ITP.
