If you’re a woman living with ITP, this question can be scary: Will my child inherit my condition? Here’s the truth — ITP is NOT a genetic disease. You do not pass it on to your children. In some cases, babies born to mothers with ITP may have a temporary low platelet count, but this is short-lived and does not mean the baby has ITP. The condition resolves on its own with proper monitoring. This video is meant to reassure, educate, and reduce fear for parents and parents-to-be living with ITP. �
