The Nolans were an Irish girl group who formed in Blackpool in 1974 as the Nolan Sisters, before changing their name in 1980. From 1979 to 1982, the group had a run of hits, including " I'm in the Mood for Dancing ", "Gotta Pull Myself Together", "Who's Gonna Rock You", "Attention to Me" and "Chemistry".

With great love and enthusiasm for anything musical, they initiated a singing family band named The Singing Nolans in 1963. The Singing Nolans band consisted of Tommy, Maureen, sons Tommy and Brian and daughters Anne, Denise, Maureen, Linda and Bernadette (otherwise known as Bernie).

There have been hundreds of girl groups on the music scene throughout the years. Few, if any, can claim to have had the success or the enduring appeal of The Nolans. Their parents, Tommy and Maureen. were successful singers in their own right in post war Dublin working as 'The Sweethearts of Song'. Tommy had sung with most of Ireland's showbands.

Bernadette Therese Nolan (17 October 1960 – 4 July 2013) was an Irish actress, singer and television personality, formerly lead vocalist of the girl group the Nolans. She was the second youngest of sisters Anne , Denise , Maureen , Linda and Coleen .
