Victoria Mboko earned the biggest win of her young career with a dominant win over Coco Gauff of the United States to reach the National Bank Open quarterfinals in Montreal. The 18-year-old from Toronto is having a breakthrough season after starting the year ranked outside the top 300.

No longer a stranger to Canadian fans, or a lightweight on the Women's Tennis Association Tour, Victoria Mboko's captivating run from fearless wild-card entry to National Bank Open semifinalist continues tonight in Montreal.

Mboko will return to her underdog role in Wednesday’s semifinal against No. 9 seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan. The 2022 Wimbledon champion was up 6-1, 2-1 in her quarterfinal against Marta Kostyuk before the Ukrainian retired because of a wrist injury.
