The city of Minneapolis and the Justice Department have reached a tentative agreement for a consent decree to place the city’s police department under federal oversight. Members of the Minneapolis City Council are expected to review the agreement on Monday with the intention of finalizing it before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump,

The document still requires sign off by the full City Council. If approved, it is expected to be filed in court early next week.

Sources tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that the city has reached a tentative agreement with the Department of Justice surrounding a federal consent decree. The sources also said the goal is to get the consent decree filed in federal court and signed off by a judge by Jan.
