MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Hurricane Erin has certainly racked up a lot of titles for itself over the last few days. It’s both the first hurricane of the season, and the first SIGNIFICANT hurricane of the season, as well as our first Category 5 of the season.

Hurricane Erin raced from a Category 1 to a Category 5 storm. If Erin keeps ramping up, is there a Category 6?

While the compact hurricane's center wasn't expected to strike land, it threatened to dump flooding rains on the northeast Caribbean as it continued to grow larger.
