Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has officially overtaken both of its predecessors at the global box office to become the highest grossing film in the trilogy.

As for Paramount’s super Sonic, it’s now set a new record as the franchise’s highest-grossing title with $420M global through Sunday, besting the $405M of Sonic 2. Of that, $203.5M is from 64 offshore markets. The holdover drop was 36% internationally this session, during which it added $15.2M from 64 offshore markets.

The Lion King, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, are continuing to dominate at the global box office well into 2025. The franchise blockbusters have already taken in large sums at the worldwide box office but they have each recently passed new milestones.

In a press release, SEGA announced that the Sonic the Hedgehog film series has now hit the $1 billion milestone in global revenue. The announcement was made by SEGA President and COO, Representative Director Shuji Utsumi, that the Sonic the Hedgehog film series has now grossed over $1 billion ( (¥157B) in the global box office.
