KERR COUNTY, Texas — A devastating scene unfolded in the Hill Country on the Fourth of July as dozens of people, including children, died after major flooding in Kerr County. That number is expected to increase as search-and-rescue operations continue this weekend and beyond.

On the morning of July 4, flash flooding along the Guadalupe River swept through Camp Mystic, a girls’ summer camp near Kerrville. The rising water overtook cabins, forcing emergency evacuations and rescue efforts. The flooding caught much of the region off guard, leading to one of the deadliest natural disasters in recent Texas history.
As the search for victims continues, county officials say "additional resources" are being deployed as the "mission efforts become more technical."
