Google sent emails to users notifying them about the Inactive Account Policy targeting accounts that have been inactive for at least two years.

Google sent out communication earlier this year to advise users that Gmail accounts that have been dormant for more than two years will be deleted.

Google announced last May it would delete underutilized accounts and it appears Google is finally making good on its promise.

Google has an inactive account policy, which states that users with "an account that has not been used within a 2-year period" can be deleted due to inactivity.

Google will enforce a new policy leading to the deletion of inactive Gmail accounts. Gmail, one of the world’s largest email services with over 1.5 billion users, will implement this policy to optimize server management and remove unused accounts.
