People have been rescued from flooded homes and stranded cars as a soggy and cold spell continued to disrupt life across parts of the U.K. as more wintry weather was expected

Weather warnings remain in force across much of the UK on Monday morning as commuters are urged to brace for snow showers, ice and rain. More travel disruption is likely due to the adverse conditions, including flooding from heavy rain and thawing snow, the Met Office said, with more than 60 flood warnings and 260 flood alerts issued.
