The most surprising result of the 2025-26 NBA season happened Monday night when the perpetually rebuilding Charlotte Hornets waltzed into the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City and demolished the reigning champion Thunder, 124-97.

The Utah Jazz were excellent in this one and had a late lead to nearly win the game. This shot by Walter Clayton Jr. was huge, putting the Jazz up 4 late in the game. There are nights where Clayton hits some massive shots and tonight was one of them.

It’s strange that a Thunder team with a 30-7 record and a 98-21 regular-season mark since the start of last season is drawing such scrutiny. But they are 6-6 since the incredible start to this season, and the losses to the Spurs made them seem closer to the pack.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Nikola Topic is back on the court. He has finished chemotherapy for testicular cancer. This comes after recovering from an ACL injury. Topic missed his rookie season due to the knee injury.

Prior to this 6-6 stretch, Oklahoma City held a 24-1 record, having lost just one game in its first 25 contests. This is a feat shared by only one team in the history of the NBA: the 73-win Golden State Warriors.

The 2024-25 Oklahoma City Thunder have been recognized as a "Team of Legend" by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of the state's greatest athletes and teams.
