North Fork Fire in McDowell County covers 200 acres, 20% contained
MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — The other fire that's still burning in McDowell County is the North Fork Fire. It is located off Highway 221 North of Marion. In other terms, the fire is near the Woodlawn community. It's covering 200 acres and is now 20% contained, according to a U.S. Forest Service press release.

An out of control wildfire is currently burning in the Bat Cave Road area in Old Fort, North Carolina and has forced some evacuations. This area is under an increased fire danger until Wednesday afternoon due to the combination of wind gusts in the 25 to 35 mph range, relative humidity values in the 20% to 30%, and dry fuel moisture.
