Mike Vrabel is off the board for the New York Jets, unsurprisingly. The New England Patriots wasted little time and hired their former player as their head coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter: Homecoming: Mike Vrabel and the Patriots reached a multi-year agreement to make him New England’s next head coach, per sources.

A coaching journey he needed to take, and the former star linebacker uniquely suited to put a faltering franchise back on track.

Tannehill suffered multiple injuries that season and was ultimately benched for rookie Malik Willis, who struggled badly. Vrabel’s defense was still strong against the run, but were a league worst against the pass and it all led to a 7-10 finish in 2022. The Titans missed the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.
