Alabama football had over seven minutes left on the clock when it took over on its own six-yard line, down 23-21 against Oklahoma. By the time the drive ended with a fourth-down incompletion, the Crimson Tide hadn’t even crossed midfield, and the game was close enough to over that the Sooners just had to kneel it out.

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables was on cloud nine after beating Alabama football for the second straight year on Saturday. As Venables spoke to media outside of the visitor’s locker room in Tuscaloosa, with the smell of cigar smoke perfuming the air, he praised his team’s effort and toughness in the 23-21 victory.
Oklahoma players sang "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Dixieland Delight" in the postgame locker room after beating the Crimson Tide.
