President Donald Trump’s vow to wage the biggest domestic deportation program in American history – expelling a million people a year – is one of his signature goals.
Ten people were taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) during a joint patrol of Louisiana oyster seed grounds at the beginning of November. Though the patrols were ostensibly about policing some of the state’s recently opened oyster seed beds, federal agents tagged along in search of immigration violations.

Before he got a call this week from CNN about reports US Border Patrol agents might be headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, City Councilmember Malcolm Graham had no idea such a plan was even in the cards.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is reportedly shifting resources from Chicago to Charlotte for a new immigration enforcement operation expected to start this month.
Federal agents will arrive as early as Saturday in the Charlotte area, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
