Mellace Family Brands California, Inc. initiated the recall for its Wegmans Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils because it contained milk even though that ingredient was not mentioned on the packaging, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Eating the recalled Wegmans candy could pose a “risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” for people allergic to milk or sensitive to it, according to the alert. Nobody has become sick from the Wegmans nonpareils to date.

"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product."
