The TikTok app is still not available in Google Play or Apple's App Store despite Trump's order halting the ban. Here's what's happening.
Some iPhones with the TikTok app, which is currently unavailable in the Apple and Google app stores, are fetching big bucks on eBay in the wake of the video-sharing app's brief ban in the United States.
If you still have TikTok installed on your phone, you might be able to make a few thousand dollars by listing it on eBay.
There are also TikTok-loaded devices that are listed for sale for just hundreds of dollars. Some sellers advertise phones with active TikTok accounts, while others say the app is installed, but not linked to an account. Ebay did not immediately respond to CBS MoneyWatch's request for comment on the listings.
Business Insider's scan of platforms like eBay and Facebook Marketplace showed hundreds of listings touting phones with TikTok and CapCut installed.
For TikTok to continue to be available in the U.S., ByteDance must either sell to a U.S.-based buyer, or the Trump administration will need to pass a new law to overturn the previous one. The latter is an unlikely scenario given the broad bipartisan support the current legislation received in Congress.
