LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha man was arrested last week as part of a sex trafficking investigation, police said Monday. The Omaha Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations took Chad Alioth, 48, into custody on Feb. 27. He was charged on suspicion of federal sex trafficking offenses.

Last year, violent crimes between family members increased by 40%, a shift Chief John Thompson characterized as dramatic.

A blizzard that swept through the Omaha area Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning left one person dead and at least seven people were treated for cold-related injuries.
