President Donald Trump said Friday that Iran had committed “to never close the Strait of Hormuz again,” following news that Iran had reopened the crucial waterway to shipping traffic.

“With the continuation of the blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open,” he said, adding that passage would depend on “designated routes” and Iranian approval.
