ATLANTA - Monday was a federal holiday where we remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Taking place in Atlanta will be the annual MLK, Jr. Beloved Community Commemorative Service, the culmination of a series of community outreach events honoring the civil rights leader.

On Monday, communities across the United States celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., including in Georgia. Dr. King led the Civil Rights Movement through nonviolence and fought tirelessly to end segregation and racial injustice before his assassination in 1968 in Memphis,
