Maine House Censure: The Supreme Court ordered the state’s legislators to temporarily restore the voting power of a state lawmaker after she had been censured for a social media post that criticized transgender athletes’ participation in girls’ sports.

The justices’ 6-3 decision in a case from Tennessee effectively protects from legal challenges many efforts by President Donald Trump’s Republican administration and state governments to roll back protections for transgender people.

The U.S. Supreme Court said Tennessee did not violate the constitution by banning gender-affirming care for transgender minors.
