Nintendo Co. will raise the price of its original Switch console in the US beginning August 3, the company said Friday in a statement posted to its website. Nintendo attributed the changes to “market conditions.”

Nintendo’s financial year is off to a bumper start thanks to explosive sales of its Switch 2 console. Following its launch in June, the Switch 2 console has now sold 5.82 million units according to Nintendo’s Q1 earnings report, more than double the 2.7 million unit sales achieved by the original Switch in its first month.

Nintendo says it's raising prices for the original Switch hardware lineup and select accessories. The company didn't provide details of how much the price will increase or give a reason why other than saying the increase was "based on market conditions,
