Washington — Support for Israel’s military action in Gaza has declined substantially among U.S. adults, with only about one-third approving, according to a new Gallup poll — a drop from the beginning of the war with Hamas, when about half of Americans approved of Israel’s operation.

Only 32 percent of survey respondents said they approve of Israel’s conduct in Gaza, down 10 points from last year.

"Hamas actively interferes with and disrupts aid distribution," Israeli Consul General Afir Okunis told Newsweek.

Some right-wing members of Netanyahu’s coalition are pushing for a takeover of the entire Gaza Strip—something the prime minister has avoided since the beginning of the war.
