US stock futures inched higher around the flatline as Wall Street braced for July's inflation report and President Trump revealed his pick to head the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

U.S. stock index futures rose on Tuesday after largely in-line consumer prices data kept bets of a Federal Reserve interest rate cut in September in tact.

July's consumer price index is expected to rise an annual 2.8% from June's 2.7%, according to a Reuters poll of economists.
