The impasse in the Minnesota House appears to be over, with the DFL and GOP jointly announcing that they have reached a power-sharing agreement.

A nearly four-week standoff over control in the Minnesota House appears to be near an end, with Democrats and Republicans planning to announce a deal on Thursday. The House has been unable to convene as Democrats have boycotted since the Jan. 14 session start and Republicans couldn’t muster the 68 members to conduct business.

The Minnesota GOP announced recall petitions against every House DFL member on Tuesday. The recall petitions come as a weeks-long boycott continues at the state capitol and what is supposed to be the start of the legislative session.

Nearly one month into the legislative session, Minnesota House leadership announced an agreement has been reached to organize the chamber on Thursday. House Republican and DFL leaders announced late Wednesday evening that they reached a power-sharing deal.

The agreement was announced shortly after Gov. Tim Walz issued a new election date for Minnesota District 40B, the seat that was the root of the DFL's boycott.

After more than three weeks of turmoil, Minnesota House DFL and GOP leadership announced Wednesday that an agreement has been reached to organize the legislative chamber effective Thursday.
