LOS ANGELES (AP) — Windy and dry conditions returned to Southern California on Monday, raising the risk of new wildfires sparking as firefighters continue to battle two major blazes in the Los Angeles area that started in similar weather nearly two weeks ago.

Another moderate to strong Santa Ana wind event is expected to develop across Southern California during the first half of the workweek, heightening wildfire dangers in a region still coping with the last significant firestorm from nearly two weeks ago.

On Sunday at 12:27 p.m. the NWS San Diego CA issued a high wind warning valid for Tuesday between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m. The warning is for San Diego County Inland Valleys, Riverside County Mountains and San Diego County Mountains.

A rare Particularly Dangerous Situation warning has been issued for Southern California as a powerful and potentially damaging Santa Ana wind event​ is expected.

A red flag warning will be in effect from 8 a.m. Monday until 2 p.m. Tuesday with a PDS warning in Los Angeles and Ventura counties from Monday at noon until Tuesday at 10 a.m.
