The FDA recalled more than 2,000 cases of Great Value chicken broth sold at 242 Walmart locations across the nine states due to compromised packaging that could lead to bacterial spoilage, which could be undetectable through taste and smell.

Do you have some chicken broth in the back in the back of your pantry? Might want to trash it because some of Walmart's cartons have been recalled.

An FDA Enforcement Report said TreeHouse Foods, which made the broth for Walmart, issued a recall on Dec. 11 and phoned consignees in Alabama and Arkansas. Asked by the Miami Herald Tuesday why there was no news release and who the consignees were, TreeHouse media relations didn’t answer and emailed:

More than 2,000 cases of Great Value chicken broth have been recalled in nine states. More than 12,000 cartons of Great Value Chicken Broth have been recalled from various states, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Walmart.

Great Value chicken broth was recalled from Walmart stores in 9 states over packaging issues that could lead to spoilage. Over 200 stores were affected.

Walmart says customers should throw out a chicken broth product that was sold at stores in mostly Southern states late last year. The retailer has recalled 48-ounce cartons of Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth that had been sold at 242 stores in nine states.
