Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky met briefly at Pope Francis’s funeral on Saturday, Kyiv said, marking their first encounter since a disastrous White House clash as the US president pushes the Ukrainian to make a peace deal with Russia.

Both will meet again in the Italian capital before returning to their respective countries.The U.S. President Donald Trump and the Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky have met at the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican minutes before the start of Pope Francis' funeral this Saturday.

The meeting between Trump and Zelensky has ended as of now. The presidents have already arrived at St. Peter's Basilica for the farewell ceremony with Pope Francis. Sky News, citing sources in the Vatican, reported that Zelensky and Trump agreed to meet after the pontiff's funeral.
