South Africa and Australia will contest the third World Test Championship final after the latter defeated India in Sydney to claim a 3-1 series win in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The match will be played at Lord's from June 11 to 15.

South Africa reached the World Test Championship 2025 semi-finals after they beat Pakistan in the first Test on December 29. They were equally dreadful in the second Test as they won the game by 10 wickets and the series by 2-0. The linchpin of their second win in Cape Town was star pacer, Kagiso Rabada as he picked six wickets in the game.

South Africa coach Shukri Conrad has hinted that the Proteas are looking for an opponent to play a Test match in England before their World Test Championship (WTC) final face-off against Australia at Lord’s from June 11. South Africa does not have any five-day matches scheduled before the WTC final.

The top two teams on the points table will qualify for the final at Lord’s in 2025. With South Africa and Australia currently leading, other teams like India and New Zealand must secure consistent victories to keep their final hopes alive.
