AURORA, Ill. - A man was critically injured in a shooting Wednesday night on Aurora's Near East Side, authorities said. The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 0-49 block of North Anderson Street. Aurora police responded after receiving a ShotSpotter alert and found the man suffering from gunshot wounds.

A man was critically wounded during a New Year’s Day shooting on the near East Side of Aurora, police said. At approximately 6:52 p.m. Wednesday, Aurora police officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the first block of North Anderson Street, according to a press release from the Aurora Police Department.
