Fashion designer Ralph Lauren and actor Michael J. Fox among several others would be awarded the US' highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The star-studded list of 19 recipients includes several philanthropists, Democratic politicians and high-profile donors.

Mr. Lauren is the first fashion designer to receive the honor.
