After decades of being nearly synonymous with American fashion, the 85-year-old became the first fashion designer to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Ralph Lauren, Hillary Clinton, Jane Goodall, Denzel Washington, and Bono are among 19 people who received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Joe Biden in a ceremony (January 4) at the White House.

Presented by President Biden, Lauren will be recognized for his significant contributions to fashion, business and philanthropy.

The star-studded list of recipients includes several philanthropists, Democratic politicians and high-profile donors.
