According to organizers, the demonstrations have been purposefully scheduled to correspond with President Donald Trump’s military-themed parade set to take place in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. The parade will honor the 250th birthday of the U.

"No Kings Day" is a nationwide day of peaceful protest organized to coincide with a military parade in Washington, D.C., marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. According to CBS News, the parade and related festivities are expected to cost between $25 million and $45 million.

The "No Kings" protests are set to take place to counter what organizers say are Trump’s plans to feed his ego on his 79th birthday and Flag Day. "No Kings" will follow several days of nationwide protests against federal immigration raids including in Los Angeles, where Trump's deployment of the National Guard further agitated his opponents.

The Texas Department of Safety has identified a “credible threat toward state legislators” attending Saturday's “No Kings” protest at the Capitol.
