According to USA Today, a rare southern storm smashed snowfall records from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Pensacola, Florida, earlier this week, encasing the region in ice and snow. Although snow is expected to exit the area Wednesday, impacts from Winter Storm Enzo, including power outages and dangerous travel, will be felt for days.

The Weather Channel is calling out expected winter snowfall this week Enzo, their fifth named storm for the 2024-25 winter season. The thing is, winter storm names are not a real thing — at least not for the National Weather Service or any other meteorological agency in North America.
