Exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen expressed anguish on Thursday over the arson attack on Bangladesh's founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's residence in Dhaka and stressed that memories of freedom fighters must never be erased.

The historic residence of Bangladesh’s founding leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in Dhaka was vandalised and set ablaze by a violent mob on Wednesday (5 February).

People removed doors, windows, bricks, iron rods, and pipes from the wreckage. Some of them cut iron rods from the debris using a hacksaw, while others used hammers to break concrete and collect rods.
