A dog is dead after a Lansing police officer shot them while making an arrest of a man in connection with a larceny complaint.

LANSING, MI - Two Lansing police officers were injured during an arrest that ended in the death of a dog.

Lansing police shot a dog dead after being bitten while arresting a larceny suspect with an outstanding warrant. Officers were injured but later released from the hospital. The incident occurred during a traffic stop on South Francis Avenue.

Two officers who were bitten were treated and released at a hospital following the incident on Lansing's east side Thursday.

The Lansing Police Department (LPD) has opened an internal investigation after two police officers shot a dog when it bit them during a traffic stop of a theft suspect. LPD said in a Facebook post yesterday that they are aware of a video being shared on social media showing the incident
