Eddie Howe has admitted that Newcastle United will continue to walk away from transfer deals if the money isn't right. The Magpies have missed out on a number of key targets already this summer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of a big campaign which will see them compete in the Champions League again.

Newcastle have made an offer for an initial loan with an option to buy. Talks are ongoing between clubs but there is no agreement as yet.

This would represent a shift to a known quantity for Howe after Manchester City swooped in to close on a deal for Burnley’s Trafford. Newcastle were thought to be interested in the English shot-stopper before City began to seriously consider triggering his buy-back option.
