A Michigan lawmaker is among those calling out the Trump administration’s “middle-of-the-night firing” of Adm. Linda Fagan, who served as the first female commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard and the first woman to head up a branch of the U.

The first woman to lead a branch of the armed forces was relieved of command within 24 hours of President Trump’s inauguration.

The firing comes amid Trump’s pledge to reshape the U.S. military and rid the nation of what he calls “woke” generals.
