Retzlaff had a devout following of rabbis from across the country while he was playing in Provo. The BY-Jew shirt was sold to faithful members at synagogues from California to England. And he’s already getting in touch with faith leaders in New Orleans.

The former Cougars quarterback enrolled at Tulane as a walk-on rather than serve a seven-game suspension at BYU for violating the school’s honor code.

Retzlaff maintains that he loved playing for the Cougars, despite being one of very few Jews on BYU's predominantly Mormon campus in Provo, Utah.
