Texas lawmakers failed to pass a bill in the regular legislative session that would have improved local governments’ emergency communications infrastructure.

Swift water rescue technicians from the Shreveport Fire Department have been in Kerrville, Texas for six days now. They were sent there to respond to the catastrophic Fourth of July flooding that happened in the Texas Hill Country.

More than 100 people have died as a result of flash flooding in Texas after the Guadalupe River north of San Antonio flowed over its banks, and Palm Beach County nonprofits and houses of worship are working to bring critical supplies to the area.

Flash floods last week in Texas caused the Guadalupe River to rise dramatically, reaching three stories high in just two hours
